Tailor Fitness

Tailor Fitness is a bespoke personal training service based in Winchmore Hill, North London, that focuses on creating genuinely individualised fitness and nutrition plans. Founded by Nikesh Tailor, a former marketing professional turned qualified PT, the business was established to challenge the repetitive, "gung-ho" nature of the fitness industry.

Made-to-measure, No BS Personal Training

We were engaged to deliver a complete strategic foundation and visual identity, transitioning the brand into a professional, easily identifiable presence that empowers clients to improve both their physical results and mental well-being.

The Challenge

The personal training market is heavily saturated with "shouty" and repetitive marketing that often fails to connect with clients on an emotional level. Nikesh recognized that in order to entice his target demographic, he needed a brand that reflected the value of a properly crafted, personal approach rather than generic, one-size-fits-all plans. The challenge was to create an iconic brand mark that could be easily separated from competitors while maintaining a friendly, approachable tone that would build long-term trust with a local community.

Our Strategic Approach

Our methodology for Tailor Fitness focused on the core concept of "Shaping Results" through technical precision and human-centric design. The strategic goal was to move the brand conversation away from standard fitness tropes and toward a "made-to-measure" philosophy. By focusing on the psychographic decision-making of the target demographic, we established a "magic thread" that links bespoke training plans with the physical act of tailoring. This approach ensures the brand feels as personal as the service itself, making complex fitness goals feel manageable and reassuringly tailored to the individual.

The Solution

We developed a sparse, clean visual identity that relies on clever wordplay and meaningful graphic elements.

  • The Visual Mark: We crafted an easily identifiable icon based on two key elements: percentages, representing the various measures of training (effort, load, body composition), and the dashed line of a tailor’s mark, representing the shaping of muscle groups.
  • Typography: We utilized lowercase typography to purposefully soften the brand name, creating a friendlier and more accessible tone across all platforms.
  • Colour Palette: The identity utilises a sophisticated and energetic palette to inject vitality while maintaining professional authority.
  • Campaign Templates: We designed a suite of consistent touchpoints, including a fully responsive website and print templates for leaflet campaigns, allowing the client to adapt their marketing based on local requirements.

The Results

The result is a professional, cohesive brand that stands out in a crowded local market.

  • Alignment: The brand now accurately reflects the bespoke reality of the training plans, providing a credible and accurate first impression for prospective clients.
  • Confidence: By utilising an iconic, sparse mark, the brand inspires trust in its attention to detail and methodical approach to personal fitness.
  • Market Standing: Tailor Fitness is now positioned as a premium, design-led alternative to standard gyms, successfully attracting clients who value a "no BS" approach to holistic health.

"As someone who has worked with various brand and marketing agencies, I can say Clark&Waugh is up there with the best of them. The discovery session was incredibly useful for documenting and organising my thoughts. They were able to ask probing questions that made me think about my business in both the short and long term. The initial design concepts were presented with care and thought, followed by a great discussion regarding the pros and cons of each. The agreed concept was developed further and tweaked over time; nothing was ever rushed and they were always welcoming to refinements where appropriate. Being perfectionists, Clark&Waugh would see details I didn't and worked tirelessly to get them sorted. The final product was fantastic and we'll be working on further projects in the future. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Clark&Waugh."
